Block party Wednesday in downtown Menlo Park
Menlo Park will hold its second and final block party of the summer Wednesday, Aug. 12, featuring a performance by a Beatles tribute band.
Local businesses and nonprofits will line the street for the block party, scheduled to run from 6 to 9:30 p.m. The Sun Kings, a Beatles tribute band, are scheduled to play from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. in Fremont Park, on Santa Cruz Avenue at University Drive in downtown Menlo Park.
The block party will feature performances by The Fabulous Hummerz, The Raytones, Kitchen Help, Blah Blah Woof Woof, and The Upside Trio, according to the Chamber of Commerce. Several groups are also scheduled to perform at the community stage at Santa Cruz Avenue and Crane Street: Kuk Sool Won Martial Arts at 6:30 p.m., Radya's belly dance Class at 7 p.m., and the Hillview School Jazz Ensemble at 8 p.m. Stanford's marching band is scheduled to make an appearance at 7:30 p.m.
On Wednesday, Santa Cruz Avenue will close at 3 p.m. and re-open at 11 p.m., according to the chamber.
