Eshoo sets new date for high-speed rail meeting
Congresswoman Anna G. Eshoo, D-Menlo Park, will host a town hall meeting to discuss the California high-speed rail project on Wednesday, Aug. 26, at the Menlo Park City Council Chambers from 7 to 8 p.m.
Representatives from the High Speed Rail Authority and Caltrain will make presentations and answer questions.
A meeting had been set for July 25, but Rep. Eshoo said she had to cancel due to critical votes in Washington, D.C.
California voters passed Proposition 1A in November, approving $9.95 billion in bond funding for the high-speed rail project. Many local residents have raised concerns that the new rail line could divide communities and lower property values.
The city of Menlo Park and the town of Atherton have joined a lawsuit against the project, arguing that the state did not thoroughly consider the potential consequences of running high-speed trains along the Caltrain corridor.
The town hall meeting will be webcast live on eshoo.house.gov. To submit questions for the panelists, email AskAnna@mail.house.gov. For more information, call her district office at 323-2984.
