Letter: Rail authority won't listen
Having attended the Jan. 19 high-speed rail hearing in Sacramento held by the state Senate Transportation and Housing Committee, I again saw that the authority really has no intention of cooperating and implementing anything the public may desire.
The rail authority chairman Pringle and director Crane, as well as Morshed, attended part of the meeting, but they all left the meeting before any comment was made by the public. They have no interest in what the public has to say.
How many times have we seen this kind of behavior? Director Rod Diridon has stated very clearly to the press when asked, "What will you do if local communities oppose your plan?" that, "They will be overridden."
Quite clearly the authority must be removed as the agency that is directing this project. Legislation has already been introduced that could achieve this goal. Support SB409 that would replace the authority with a new governing group.
