Portola Valley notes Earth Day with fair
Portola Valley celebrates Earth Day and the green lifestyle for four hours, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., on Saturday, April 17, at the Town Center at 765 Portola Road.
The event is affordable — admission is free — and likely to be informative, given the presence of many regional agencies invested in helping residents reduce their carbon footprints.
Along with activities for children are activities and demonstrations for the adults, including:
• A GreenWaste Recovery garbage and recycling truck.
• Composting experts from RecycleWorks.
• A native-plant demonstration by the Portola Valley Garden Club.
• A collection of electric vehicles.
• Tips on reusing bags from a character called the Bag Monster.
• A collection point for used athletic shoes that will be ground up and used in rubberized sport surfaces.
