Around Town: 'Plant Explorer' at Roger Reynolds
Dan Hinkley, horticulturist and nurseryman, will appear from 4 to 5 p.m. Saturday, June 5, in the redwood grove at Roger Reynolds Nursery, 133 Encinal Ave., in Menlo Park.
Mr. Hinkley, horticultural consultant for the PBS Nova TV program, "The First Flower," will discuss his favorite new plant finds that are adaptable to Peninsula Home Gardens. He will sign copies of his book, "The Explorer's Garden: Shrubs and Vines from the Four Corners of the World."

Summer reading
The summer reading program at the Menlo Park Library, open to children and teens of all ages, will be held from June 7 through July 31. Participants who reach their reading goals will receive a free book and be entered into one of many grand-prize drawings.
Go to menloparklibrary.org or stop by the library to register. Participants may register beginning June 1. The program, is made possible by the Friends of the Menlo Park Library.
