Block party in downtown Menlo Park
Menlo Park will hold its second and final block party of the summer on Wednesday, Aug. 11, featuring a performance by a Beatles tribute band.
Local businesses and nonprofits will line the street for the block party, scheduled to run from 6 to 9:30 p.m.
The Sun Kings, a Beatles tribute band, will play from 6:30 to 8 p.m. in Fremont Park, on Santa Cruz Avenue at University Drive.
Santa Cruz Avenue will be closed to traffic from El Camino Real to University Avenue. Restaurants will extend tables into the street for plaza-style dining.
Activities will include a children's area and a community stage, where non-professional groups will perform. The "Old Tom" fire engine will be on hand for kids to explore and the city of Menlo Park will present displays from several departments.
The block party is coordinated by the Menlo Park Chamber of Commerce.

Posted by Kurt Coman, a resident of the Menlo Park: Central Menlo Park neighborhood, on Aug 4, 2010 at 9:43 pm Can't wait to see the Downtown Alliance Against Customers and Activity protesting the use of beloved street parking for a pedestrian-oriented event. It's a fad, people! More space for cars! My parents who left me this building told me to protect the parking at all costs!
Sincerely,
Out-Of-Town Loners.
