Checklist before baby arrives

Uploaded: Feb 21, 2017
When I was pregnant with our first, I read a lot of books and articles about pregnancy and labor. But, looking back, I wish I had been more informed about the benefits of hiring a doula, having a birth plan, and normal newborn eating and sleeping behaviors.

When I was pregnant with our second child I read a lot about how to help our son adjust to becoming a big brother. I was thankful to have a doula, birth plan, and postpartum doula to help us during the transition from a family of three to a family of four.

This time around I'm focusing on taking care of myself before baby arrives. I went to the dentist, got my hair cut, enjoyed a massage, bought a new phone, bought new non-maternity clothes and invited friends over for dinner.

The last few weeks of pregnancy can, depending on the day, feel like months or mere seconds. I feel very lucky to be able to take some time for myself before baby arrives. Before scheduling these appointments and making these purchases becomes a bit more of a challenge.
We need your support now more than ever. Can we count on you?

Your "to do" list before baby number 3 arrives is nothing like mine. I doubt very much if I would have had that much time.

Mine was much more along the lines of getting guest room ready for Mother In Law, making sure there were plenty of groceries and other essentials in the house (MIL didn't drive), making sure the list of useful phone numbers was up to date with the usual emergency doctor, dentist, etc. as well as friends or neighbors she could call on if necessary and kids friends parents, schools, other activities. List of activities, kids calendars, how to get to local parks, grocery stores, etc. by walking, MIL not good on computer. I had about 3 weeks help from her then it was completely on my own. BTW I had number 3 C section and was still putting stroller into/out of trunk as MIL decided she couldn't work out how to collapse/fold the thing.

New clothes?? Massage?? Hair cut and dentist probably would have been a good idea, but can't really remember having that much time.

Good luck on the safe arrival of Number Three. You seem to be all set.

Mother of 4- Yes, the third pregnancy can fly by. It's great that your mother in law was able to help out for a few weeks during your recovery.
