Don't be a ghost

Uploaded: Oct 13, 2017
As a parent it's easy to become a "ghost." As this post addresses, someone who buys groceries, puts laundry away, makes dinner, packs school lunches, loads the dishwasher, and vacuums all unnoticed.

With three kids sometimes it's tempting to use those free minutes, when baby is napping and my older ones are playing together, to attempt to finish a never ending list of chores.

But at the moment, I'm making a conscious choice to do something that I actually want to do during these fleeting moments. Practice a new song on the piano, write notes to our kids, make photo books and other mementos, read a book, etc. None of these projects are big and all can be started and paused in a moment's notice.

This October I'm doing my best not to be a ghost who does the laundry and cleans the house unnoticed. I would much rather have my kids notice me filling most of these free moments with activities I enjoy.
