Trick-or-Treat Street

Uploaded: Oct 25, 2018
Thank you Menlo-Atherton High School for a fun evening yesterday. My three kids and I enjoyed decorating pumpkins, trick-or-treating classroom to classroom, throwing rings and bean bags, pinning the tail on a cat and fishing for ducks.

I expected trick-or-treat street to give our kids great practice before trick-or-treating next week. I could remind them to smile, say “trick-or-treat” loudly, and then, after receiving candy, look at the person and say “thank you.”

Not only were the high schoolers extra understanding during this learning process, but last night turned into very important practice for me. Did I remember everyone’s candy bucket? All of the pieces of each costume? Did I take photos of each kid? Try to get a group shot? Did I remind our kids that we will trade most of the candy for a toy?

The only big hiccup we ran into was my toddler coveting her sister’s costume. Thankfully I have one week to figure out whether we need two matching outfits or if she will be satisfied with items from our dress up bin.
We need your support now more than ever. Can we count on you?
