The space that was for decades home to Applewood Pizza in Menlo Park will soon serve pizza again.

A franchisee for Mountain Mike’s Pizza is opening an outpost at the 1001 El Camino Real site, according to Samantha Wilson of Powerhouse Communications, which handles media for Mountain Mike’s.

This will be the third location for Curt and Janet Moscini, who own Mountain Mike’s franchises in Campbell and San Carlos.

They’re planning a “full remodel” of the 5,200-square-foot space, Wilson said. The restaurant will serve the same menu as other Mountain Mike’s: specialty, create-your-own and gluten-free pizzas, plus sandwiches.

The Moscinis are aiming for a late summer opening, Wilson said.

  1. Looking forward to trying Mountain Mike’s pizzas.

While the whole building at 1001 El Camino may be 5200 sq feet, the restaurant area downstairs is much smaller, at least 1/2 that…

  2. I’ve been getting Mountain Mikes “Snowy Alps”(a.k.a. Creamy Garlic Combo) every Tuesday for the past 10 years.I switched to their thin crust version a few years back to cut down on carbs. Since they moved from their A frame to San Carlos, it has been a few miles out of my way. Now, with their takeover of Galeotti’s on Jefferson and the Alameda in RWC, my Tuesday pickup’s will be on my route to Menlo Park. And, when they open in Menlo, Betty and I will go there on Wednesday’s for all-you-can-eat salad and pizza. No more take-out salads from Round Table.

  3. If you can’t find a pizza you like in this area, you’re just not looking.
There are seemingly endless choices of pies, but up until now, Mountain Mike’s wasn’t one of them.
I like their pizza now and then the same as I like Round Table now and then.
    Hooray for choice!
