The owner of Daigo Sushi in San Francisco has officially expanded south with a new location in Palo Alto.

Daigo Sushi No. 2 is located at 2363 Birch St., last occupied by Hidden Garden Sushi and before that, the longtime Homma’s Brown Rice Sushi. Both specialized in brown-rice sushi, which Daigo does not.

The dinner menu includes traditional Japanese appetizers, nigiri, sashimi, maki and hand rolls. Omakase is also available, from a five-piece sashimi tasting ($20) to a 12-piece nigiri tasting ($75). Daigo also offers daily nigiri and sashimi specials from Japan. At lunch, the restaurant serves donburi (rice bowls) and teishoku, a Japanese meal set, including karaage chicken, miso katsu, chicken curry or braised mackerel served with miso soup, steamed rice and sides.

The teishoku menu changes every two weeks.

Daigo Palo Alto is open for lunch and dinner Tuesday-Saturday, and from 3-9:30 p.m. on Sunday.
