The family trip that wasn’t

Uploaded: May 31, 2019
We planned to start off our Memorial Day weekend with a family outing to Gilroy Gardens. Our middle child was especially excited to go on all of the rides again. Sadly, our oldest got sick and was going to need to spend the majority of the weekend resting at home.

What should we do? Split up? Wait for another free weekend? Realizing that our calendar is getting busier and busier every month, we decided to split up. Our oldest has more or less outgrown Gilroy Gardens and our youngest didn’t realIze what she would be missing out on.

My daughter and husband had a wonderful time together. Throughout the day I enjoyed seeing photos and videos of our daughter laughing and smiling. She loved spending the day at Gilroy Gardens and having her dad all to herself.

As our kids grow up, getting all 5 of us together for a day trip or vacation is becoming more and more challenging. Memorial Day weekend reminded me to be grateful for the trips when everything falls in to place. And, when things don’t, to try to be creative and make the best of it.
We need your support now more than ever. Can we count on you?
