Valentine’s Day Fun Part 2

Uploaded: Feb 14, 2021
Last week we enjoyed watching Steve Spangler’s Facebook Live about science experiments for Valentines Day. We thought it would be a lot of fun to give our Valentine’s Day celebration a science twist this year.

1. Colorful Carnations: Instead of using carnations, we used endive just to try something new. I was very impressed by how quickly the colors were absorbed and how intense the colors were after only a few hours.

2. Secret Messages: These FriXion pens were such a fun way write secret messages to each other. I wish there was a safe way for our kids to erase the messages themselves, but it was a lot of fun to watch the ink disappear when I used the heat from our stove.

3. Heart Skittles: We’ve enjoyed this experiment many times over the years. But it is always fun to see the different colorful patterns and designs. What a cute twist to put the candies into a heart shape.

4. Salt painting: We did salt painting earlier this year with snowflakes. It was a hit and much easier than I expected. The watercolors blend together nicely. This afternoon we are planning to use this technique to make Valentine’s Day themed designs.

What were your favorite Valentines Day activities and crafts from this weekend?
We need your support now more than ever. Can we count on you?
