Opening alert: Minamoto Kitchoan at Stanford Shopping CenterUploaded: Jan 9, 2017
An outpost of Minamoto Kitchoan, an international Japanese dessert chain, is now open at Stanford Shopping Center in Palo Alto.
Also called K. Minamoto, the new shop sells "wagashi," or traditional Japanese confections often served with tea. Glass cases are filled with everything from mochi, waffle cookies, sponge cake and savory rice crackers to "tsuya," a sweet sandwich made of two mini pancakes with sweet red bean paste in the middle. The Stanford store also sells loose-leaf teas.
Above: Green tea, chocolate and plain flavors of "katsutera," or sponge cake, at Minamoto Kitchoan.
