Every so often I sit down to write, but instead start thinking about the happenings that surround, and the feeling that waxing poetic about food just seems so… well… shallow.
So today the sentiment is different; a Food Party! salute let’s call it, to a tune I find myself singing these days, over and over, more like a prayer than a song.
America the Beautiful
Oh beautiful, for spacious skies
For amber waves of grain
For purple mountain majesties
Above the fruited plain.
God shed grace on thee
And crowned thy good with brother (and sister) hood
to shining sea.
- lyrics by Katharine Lee Bates, music by Samuel A. Ward
