As we count down the days until Easter, our kids miss their grandma. Pre-covid she frequently visited us over Spring Break and shared her favorite science experiments with us. I still remember one year when we completed almost 20 experiments together during her short visit.
This year we will be celebrating Easter with grandma and other relatives over zoom, but we are already doing our favorite Easter Eggsperiments: squeezing eggs, naked eggs, walking on eggs, egg in a bottle, spinning egg shells, egg geodes, bouncing eggs, shrinking eggs, floating eggs, egg drop, balancing eggs, and of course, dying eggs.
This year we enjoyed two new eggsperiments:
1. Lego Egg Decorator: I first saw this Lego activity a few years ago, but I was a bit intimidated by the Lego technic pieces and gears. However, now that our kids are older and are more experienced with Lego, we couldn’t wait to build our own machine. It was a hit! As suggested, we hardboiled our eggs to make them easier to spin. And we decided to use a Lego crank instead of a motor to make the machine easier for our youngest to use.
2. Egg shell heads: Our kids love planting seeds and were excited to start an herb garden this spring. When we saw these egg shell heads they looked like a fun and cute way to start our seeds. It took a few tries to break the eggs correctly, but the garden is adorable and we are excited to see what grows this spring.
