Former U.S. Senator Bill Bradley will be the keynote speaker at Woodside Priory School's fifth annual Community Forum on Tuesday, April 21, at 7:30 p.m. in the school's Assembly Hall.
His talk, "America: The Path Ahead," will be followed by questions, then informal conversation, dessert and coffee in the dining hall.
Admission is free, but advance reservations are needed. Call the the school office at 851-8221 to reserve a place.
While a U.S. senator from New Jersey from 1979 to 1997, Mr. Bradley was author of a bill that overhauled the California Central Valley Project, the nation's largest water project.
A visiting lecturer on international affairs at Stanford University, he is chairman of the National Civic League and the Advertising Council's Advisory Committee on Public Issues.
Mr. Bradley was a star forward for the New York Knicks from 1967 to 1977. He was captain of the U.S. basketball team that won the gold medal at the Tokyo Olympics in 1964. A graduate of Princeton University with honors in American history, he received a Rhodes Scholarship to Oxford University where he earned a graduate degree after studying politics, philosophy and economics.
The Priory's Community Forum annually brings a speaker on issues of national importance to the college preparatory school's campus at 302 Portola Road in Portola Valley. Last year's speaker was former U.S. Secretary of Defense William Perry.
