The following information is from Atherton and Menlo Park police departments and the San Mateo County Sheriff's Office. Under the law, people charged with an offense are considered innocent until convicted.
ATHERTON
Domestic violence: William Aitken, 78, of Atherton, was arrested March 27 after allegedly assaulting his former wife. He was booked into county jail.
Strong-arm robbery: A 15-year-old boy was arrested March 31 at Menlo-Atherton High School after allegedly stealing money out of another student's hand. He was booked into Hillcrest juvenile hall.
Injury accident: A bicyclist was taken to the hospital March 30 after being hit by a car on Stockbridge and Austin avenues.
Petty theft: Two wallets were reported stolen March 30 from a locker room at Sacred Heart Preparatory School.
Mail tampering: Firecracker was reportedly ignited March 28 inside a mailbox in the 400 block of Selby Lane.
MENLO PARK
Domestic violence reports:
**A resident of Van Buren Road reported April 2 being assaulted by a man who broke into her home. The case has been transferred to the district attorney's office.
**A woman in the 1100 block of Sevier Avenue reported being assaulted April 2.
Injury accidents:
**Three people were taken to the hospital March 28 after a three-car collision at El Camino Real and Glenwood Avenue.
**A pedestrian was taken to the hospital March 29 after being hit by a car in the 900 block of Santa Cruz Avenue.
**One person was taken to the hospital March 29 after his car collided with another and rolled over on Bayfront Expressway north of Willow Road.
**One person was taken to the hospital March 31 after a two-car collision at Marsh Road and Scott Drive.
Residential burglaries:
**The 700 block of Arnold Way: Watch and men's jewelry reported stolen March 29.
**The 100 block of Constitution Drive: Tools reported stolen March 30 from a construction site.
**The 600 block of Coleman Avenue: VCR reported stolen March 30.
**The 900 block of Arnold Way: Three jewelry boxes and several pieces of jewelry reported stolen March 31.
Commercial burglary: Metal strong box and set of keys reported stolen April 2 from a locked file cabinet in Haven Family House on Van Buren Road.
Stolen vehicle: Ford T-bird reported stolen April 3 from the 900 block of Alice Lane.
Vehicle burglary reports:
**The 1000 block of Sonoma Avenue: Chainsaw, hedge trimmer and tool box reported stolen April 2.
**The 3000 block of Bohannon Drive: Stereo reported stolen April 2.
Malicious mischief: Preuss Pharmacy and Menlo Cleaners on Santa Cruz Avenue reported flooding damage on March 29 from a hose inserted through a back window.
PORTOLA VALLEY
Injury accident: A bicyclist on Portola Road suffered minor injuries March 29 after hitting the rear tire of the bike in front of him and flipping over the handlebars.
WOODSIDE
Drunken driving: The following people were arrested on charges of driving under the influence and were booked into county jail:
**Julie Walter, 39, of San Mateo, March 24 on Canada and Runnymede roads.
**Mario Polestra, 41, of Woodside, March 27 in the 200 block of Eleanor Drive.
Residential burglary: Camera and two tennis rackets reported stolen March 26 from an open garage in the 300 block of Lindenbrook Road.
Theft: Cellular phone reported stolen March 30 from a men's room at Canada College.
