After May 22, many patrons of the Eureka Bank branch at 825 Santa Cruz Ave. in Menlo Park will reaccustom themselves to banking at Bay View Federal in the wake of a Jan. 2 merger of the two institutions.
The Santa Cruz branch will close at the end of the business day May 22.
The branch is one of six Eureka Bank branches closing because nearby Bay View branches can duplicate their services, said Jan Schlesinger, vice president of marketing at the San Mateo-based Bay View Bank.
The five other branches are in Belmont, San Mateo, San Bruno, San Leandro, San Francisco and South San Francisco; the Palo Alto branch will remain open.
Remaining Eureka Bank branches will be renamed Bay View after Memorial Day, said Ms. Schlesinger.
Though Menlo Park patrons of Eureka Bank might need to retrain themselves to recognize the new bank name on their checks and deposit slips, geographically the change is a minor one: the Bay View branch is at 1105 El Camino Real, a short walk from the site of the closing bank branch.
