Police Calls Police Calls (August 26, 1998)

The following information is from Atherton and Menlo Park police departments and the San Mateo County Sheriff's Office. Under the law, people charged with an offense are considered innocent until convicted.

ATHERTON

Injury accidents:

**Two people were taken to the hospital after a two-car collision at the corner of Oak Grove Avenue and De Bell Drive August 15.

**One person was taken to the hospital after a head-on collision at the corner of Fair Oaks Lane and El Camino Real August 16.

Drunken driving: Deborah Stockwell, 28, of Atherton was arrested at the corner of El Camino Real and Almendral Avenue August 21 on charges of driving under the influence of alcohol. She was taken to First Chance alcohol-intervention center in Belmont.

Car theft: A 13-year-old girl was arrested on charges of car theft in the first block of San Benito Avenue on August 21 after her grandmother reported that her car had been stolen. She was taken to Hillcrest Juvenile Hall.

Vehicle burglary: A cell phone was reported taken from an unlocked car in the first block of Laburnum Avenue on August 18.

MENLO PARK

Armed robbery: A man reported that on August 13 in the 1200 block of Willow Road, he was struck on the back of the head with a baseball bat and knocked unconscious by three men who took his money and fled. He was taken to the hospital for treatment of a broken jaw.

Injury accident: A motorcyclist was taken to the hospital after colliding with a car at the corner of Middle Avenue and Fremont Street August 19.

Grand theft report: Someone stole a new RCA 19" color that had just been delivered to a residence in the 600 block of Roble Avenue August 15.

Burglary reports:

**Someone stole a lifeline float rope valued at $80 and drained half of the Belle Haven pool August 14. The keys to the pool were reported stolen August 13.

**A total of $160 was reported stolen from a cash register at Menlo Park Hardware on Santa Cruz Avenue August 19.

Vehicle burglary reports:

**Motorola cellular phone reported stolen from a locked vehicle parked at Koo Koo Roo restaurant on Santa Cruz Avenue August 13.

**Motorola cellular phone and cigarettes reported stolen from a Saab parked in the 500 block of Glenwood Aveue August 13.

**Gray plastic purse reported stolen from an unlocked vehicle in the Rite-Aid parking lot on El Camino Real August 16.

Petty theft: A man reported that his wallet was stolen at Flood County Park August 11.

PORTOLA VALLEY

Petty theft: A man's wallet was reported stolen from his locker at the Alpine Hills Tennis and Swimming Club on Alpine Road August 16. Three charges were made on his credit card totaling over $1,000.

WOODSIDE

Drunken Driving: Ulises Rodriguez, 27, of Redwood City, was arrested on Woodside Road near I-280 August 15 on charges of driving under the influence of alcohol. He was booked into county jail.
