McBride-Emerick

Dr. Karan Elizabeth McBride and Dr. Geoffrey Thomas Emerick were married July 11 at Christ Episcopal Church in Watertown, Connecticut. A reception followed at Avon Old Farms Inn in Avon, Connecticut.

The bride is the daughter of William and Penny McBride of Oakville, Connecticut. A graduate of Fairfield University and the University of Connecticut School of Medicine, she completed her pediatric residency and a fellowship in pediatric gastroenterology and nutrition at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia in June. She will join the faculty of Children's Memorial Hospital in Chicago.

The bridegroom is the son of Merrill and Susan Emerick of Menlo Park. A graduate of Stanford University and the University of California, San Diego, School of Medicine, he completed his residency in ophthalmology at Wills Eye Hospital in Philadelphia and a fellowship in glaucoma at Bascom Palmer Eye Institute at the University of Miami in July. He will be joining the faculty at Loyola University Medical Center in Chicago.

Robyn Kaplan-Cho was the bride's maid of honor and Karen Pettit her attendant. Dr. Andrew Sorenson was the best man; Dr. Ahmad Amir was attendant. The bride's brother, Shaun McBride, and her cousin, Ian Hanna, were ushers.

After a honeymoon in the Greek Islands, the newlyweds are living in Chicago.

Bartlett-Sweeney

Shelly Bartlett and Scott Sweeney were married August 1 at Vanumanutagi Ranch in Gilroy where a reception followed.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John A. Bartlett of Portola Valley. She is a graduate of Woodside High School and University of California at Berkeley, and is employed as a strength and conditioning coach at Novacare in Cupertino.

The bridegroom is the son of Diane Miller of Woodside and William Sweeney of Redwood City. A graduate of Woodside High School and Chico State University, he is a teacher at Hillbrook School in Los Gatos.

Lindsay Bartlett Montero was her sister's matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Jenny Thomas, Kendra Hodder, Annemarie Brigandi and Kristen Gagnon. Julia Bartlett was flower girl. Andrew Kerr was best man. Ushers were Thomas Sweeney, Joseph Montero Jr., and Leo Valdez.

After a wedding trip to Hawaii, the couple is living in Belmont.

Paul-Chance

Laura Irene Paul and Jonathan Halsey Chance were married June 27 at Northwest Hills Baptist Church in Corvallis, Oregon. A reception followed at the Corvallis Country Club.

The bride is the daughter of William and Janet Paul of Corvallis. A graduate of Oregon State University where she received bachelor's and master's degrees, she is a home economics teacher at Redmond (Oregon) High School.

The bridegroom is the son of Douglas and Susan Chance of Portola Valley. A graduate of Menlo-Atherton High School and Oregon State University, he is a youth employment counselor at Central Oregon Intergovernmental Council.

Holly Beck was maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Susan Ludi, Susan Maine, Kami Smith, and Christine Paul. Matthew and Nicholas Musgrove were ring bearers.

Andrew Chance was best man. Ushers were Dave Turner, Steve Sullivan, Don E. Paul and W. Howard Paul.

After a wedding trip to the British Virgin Islands, the couple is living in Redmond, Oregon.

Basso-Barnes

Cristy Basso and John Franklin Barnes III were married May 23 at Stanford Memorial Church. A reception followed at Lucie Stern Community Center in Palo Alto.

The bride is the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Lawrence V. Basso of Menlo Park. A graduate of Menlo-Atherton High School and the University of California at Los Angeles, she is a research analyst at Robertson Stephens & Co.

The bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. John F. Barnes of Trabuco Canyon, California. A graduate of the University of California at Los Angeles, he is a sales representative for Paper Craft.

Stephanie Basso was maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Lisa Goldberg, Megan Matthews, Alyssa McCornock, Courtney Tozzi and Robyn San Filippo. Pat Barnes was best man. Ushers were Matt Jones, Bob Morgan, Tony Basso, Charles Smith and Joseph Ramer.

After a honeymoon in Kauai and Maui, the couple is living in San Francisco.

Nye-Ludwig

Jennifer Nye, daughter of Nancy Nye of Menlo Park and Richard Nye Jr. of Ocean Gate, N.J., and John Ludwig, son of Cindy and Jim Ludwig of Malibu, were married April 18 at Malibu Presbyterian Church. An outdoor reception was held at the Malibu estate of Dick and Becky Keller.

The bride is a graduate of Menlo-Atherton High School and Pepperdine University. She is earning her master's degree at UCLA. The bridegroom is a graduate of Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo. He is an account executive at Sekot Inc., in Santa Monica. The couple is living in Brentwood.

Dowley-Paolucci

Jane Elizabeth Dowley and Andrew James Paolucci were married April 25 at Church of the Nativity in Menlo Park. A dinner-dance reception followed at Menlo Country Club.

The bride is the daughter of Charlene and George Dowley of Menlo Park. A graduate of Menlo-Atherton High School and the University of California at Berkeley, she is employed as director of communications for a Silicon Valley software company.

The bridegroom is the son of Marilyn and Dominic Paolucci of Denver. He is a graduate of the University of Arizona with a degree in architecture and is in software sales for a Silicon Valley firm.

Both are members of large families. All of the bride's and bridegroom's brothers and sisters took part in the wedding. The bride's sister, Nora Dowley, was maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Catherine Dowley, Kimberly Younger, and Nicole and Angela Paolucci.

Nicolas Paolucci was best man. Ushers were Steven, John and Thomas Paolucci, and Thomas Dowley. The bride's brothers, Philip, Matthew and James Dowley, gave readings at the Nuptial Mass.

After a honeymoon in Bali and Thailand, the couple is at home in San Francisco.
