Palo Alto police, who have been looking for witnesses to an August 11 sexual assault on Alma Street near the Menlo Park border, released a more detailed sketch of the suspect last week.

A witness, tracked via a Palo Alto police checkpoint, provided a detailed description to a police artist.

The suspect is described as a black man in his 30s, 5 feet 10 inches tall, with a medium-to-muscular build.

After the attack on the 33-year-old woman, he fled in a gold-colored late 1970s- or early 1980s-model American sedan.

Anyone with information is asked to call Detective Ron Watson or Detective Jean Bready at 329-2186 or 329-2413. Witnesses can also call the police department's anonymous tip line at 329-2190.

A $10,000 reward has been established for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the assailant.
