Congregation Beth Am in Los Altos Hills will host a weekend series of lectures on Reform Judaism from February 26 through 28 for congregants and others who are curious about Jewish practice and heritage.
The weekend lectures, which address topics ranging from Jewish law to ritual, are presented as part of the synagogue's Scholar-in-Residence weekend.
This year's speaker is legal and rabbinic scholar Dr. Mark Warshovsky. An associate professor of rabbinics at Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion in Cincinnati, Dr. Warshovsky is chair of the Responsa Committee of the Central Conference of American Rabbis, which deals with questions ranging from whether rabbis should officiate at same-sex marriages to what is the moral obligation of the Reform Movement to a person who has committed a crime.
Congregation Beth Am is located at 26790 Arastradero Road in Los Altos Hills. Call 493-4661 for more information.
