Parents whose children will be starting kindergarten this fall in the Menlo Park City School District are urged to register their children now to help the school district with its class planning.

Families who live west of El Camino Real should register their future kindergartners at Oak Knoll School (grades K-5), 1895 Oak Knoll Lane, Menlo Park.

Families living east of El Camino Real should register their children at Laurel School (K-2), 95 Edge Road, Atherton.

Oak Knoll will host two kindergarten orientation meeting: Thursday, March 18, at 2 p.m.; and Wednesday, April 7, at 7 p.m. For more information and to reserve a space, call the school office at 854-4433. Marilyn Franklin is the principal.

Laurel School also will hose two kindergarten orientation meetings: both at 2 p.m. on Thursday, April 8, and May 6. Call the school office at 324-0186 for more information and to reserve a space. Nancy Hendry is Laurel's principal.

Children who will be 5 years old by December 2, 1999, are eligible for kindergarten. To register students at school, parents must bring proof of: the child's age (a birth certificate or other legal document); residency in the district (deed, lease agreement, rental agreement, PG&E bill); immunization against diphtheria, whooping cough, tetanus, polio, measles, mumps and rubella; and testing for tuberculosis.
