Menlo-Atherton High School will honor its volunteers and benefactors at an awards event at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, April 22, in the school's J Building.
Parents, staff, community members and organizations will be recognized by the Menlo-Atherton Parent Teachers Students Association for contributions in time, effort and funds.
Community members are invited to the 45-minute awards ceremony and the annual open house following it.
Principal Eric Hartwig will serve as emcee and lead presenter, assisted by PTSA co-presidents Karen Canty and Pat Fuqua. Refreshments will be served.
Receiving service awards will be: Mary Beckstrom, Andrea Bezzant, Karen Canty, Ed Canty, Ed Cardona, Dick Desautel, Les DeWitt, Marge Draper, Chrissy Freeman, Jane Fuchs, Pat Fuqua, Terry Fuqua, Nancy Hardesty, David Haskell, Carol Herzberg, Roscoe Jennings, Suzanne Jeuck, Doug Kess, Karen Kopfman, Jenna Loosli, Sharon Low, Karen Lu, Chris Mackey, Emma McKeithen, Rob Metcalfe, Julie Pallone, Angelica Rodriguez, Octavio Rodriguez, Rogelio Santillian, Maya Slocum, Bobby Studley, Donna Tyree, Jon Velten, Noah Veltman, and Ann Whittaker.
Honors for school service groups will go to: teacher Mona Klein and students involved in FHA HERO and Voices against Violence; and to Paul Vega and Young Latino Leaders.
Teacher-parent partnerships receiving recognition are: the Sand Hill Challenge team of parents Doug Graham, Roger Lion, Marc Platshon and Jon Velten and teachers Mark Leeper and Craig LeClaire; and the Digital High School project led by teacher Leanne Cox and parent Wes Ramirez.
In keeping with a M-A tradition, a "Bear Farewell" goes to the following parents whose youngest student will graduate from M-A in June.
