Vivian K. Medzian

Retired speech pathologist

Vivian K. Medzian, a former resident of Hillsborough and longtime resident of Sharon Park, died April 5. She was 92.

A native of Fresno, she was a former teacher of the deaf and hard of hearing, a remedial reading therapist, and a speech pathologist in the Oakland and Contra Costa County public schools.

She is survived by her daughter Lynn M. Amerian of Mountain View; her sister Eunice Maroot of Fresno; grandchildren Julie and Stephanie Amerian of Mountain View; and son-in-law Robert Amerian, also of Mountain View. Her husband Stanley S. Medzian preceded her in death.

Memorial services were held April 12 under the direction of Spangler Mortuaries in Menlo Park. Donation may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.

Lorraine Goodman Bennett

Longtime resident

Lorraine Goodman Bennett, a longtime resident of Menlo Park and a San Mateo County resident for 55 years, died April 5. She was 80.

A native Californian, Mrs. Bennett was a graduate of Stanford University who enjoyed bridge, golf and travel, family members said.

She is survived by her sons Daniel and Stephen; and four grandchildren. Her husband, Dudley G. Bennett, preceded her in death.

Services were held April 9 under the direction of Roller, Hapgood & Tinney in Palo Alto. Contributions may be made to the Stanford Cardinal Buck Fund, Department of Athletics, Stanford, CA 94305-6150; or to a charity of the donor's choice.

Don Warren

Retired astronomy instructor

A memorial service was held April 9 for Don Warren of Menlo Park who died April 4 at Palo Alto Nursing Center. He was 70.

A resident of Menlo Park for 18 years, Mr. Warren was a U.S. Navy veteran and retired astronomy instructor.

He is survived by his wife, Patrice Warren; daughter Linda Sutton of San Jose; son Richard R. Warren of Ripon, California; brothers Charles Warren of Central Pointe, Oregon, and Gene Warren of Reedsport, Oregon, and six grandchildren.

Margaret Clancy

Breast cancer activist

Margaret "Peggy" Clancy, a Menlo Park resident and breast cancer activist, died March 30, one day before her 35th birthday.

Ms. Clancy was born in Michigan, but moved to Santa Cruz after graduating from high school. She attended San Jose State University, where she earned a degree in early childhood education. She moved to Menlo Park in 1991 where she worked as a pre-school teacher at Bing School at Stanford, before moving to Seattle in 1997.

Ms. Clancy battled breast cancer, but still found time to help other young mothers with the disease and to support breast cancer charities, says her sister, Bridget Clancy.

Ms. Clancy is survived by her husband Sabin Pradhan; daughters Joan and April Clancy; parents Harry and Joan Clancy; sisters Marianne, Sharon, Bridget, Sheila, Ellen and Jennifer; and brothers Michael, Timothy, Kevin and Patrick.
