Thousands of Bay Area volunteers will help spread Christmas spirit a little early this year, as part of the annual Christmas in April renovation day April 24.
Christmas in April organizes volunteers to repair community facilities and homes for seniors, low-income families and disabled people. This year, the organization will make repairs to eight homes in Menlo Park, performing tasks such as cleaning, painting, landscaping, and upgrading electrical and plumbing work.
Local sites include:
**The home of the Albas, a senior couple, on Marsh Road. The project sponsor is Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe in Menlo Park, which also supplied the volunteer coordinator, Alexandra McClure.
**The home of the Parks, a three-generation family, on Carlton Avenue.
**The home of Elizabeth Fuller, a senior widow, on Monterey Avenue. The project sponsor is Pacific Peninsula Group in Menlo Park, which also supplied the house captain, Brad Smith, and volunteer coordinator, Kim Fishel.
**The home of Mittie Holland, a senior widow, on Ivy Drive. The project sponsor is Frank, Rimerman and Co. in Menlo Park, which also supplied the volunteer coordinator, Brian Kreischer.
**The home of Sylvia Burrell, a senior widow, on Newbridge Street. The project sponsor is Venture Law Group in Menlo Park, which also supplied the volunteer coordinator, Cathy Edwards.
**The home of the Hopkins, a senior couple, on Hamilton Avenue. The project sponsor is MGM Fence Company in Menlo Park.
**The home of the Grossharts, a senior couple, on Fourteenth Avenue.
**The home of Bobbie Wright, a senior widow, on Sevier Avenue. The project sponsor is the Stanford Park Hotel in Menlo Park, and the Kiwanis Club of Menlo Park, which also supplied the volunteer coordinator, Larry Marks. The house captain is Thompson Sako, from Sako Construction, Inc. in Menlo Park.
Also, volunteers from Woodside Priory will renovate the home of a senior widow in East Palo Alto and volunteers from Woodside Elementary School will renovate Hoover Elementary School in Redwood City.
