Twelve high school seniors received scholarships totaling $50,000 at the recent 13th annual scholastic achievement awards banquet, sponsored by the Rotary Club of Menlo Park Foundation.
About 100 more students from Menlo School, Menlo-Atherton, Sacred Heart Prep and Woodside Priory were recognized for exemplary performance in specific fields, ranging from math to community service.
The scholarships and scholastic achievement awards were presented at the Rotary Club's banquet April 24 at Sacred Heart Prep.
The winner of the largest scholarship -- $10,000 -- in honor of the John D. Russell is Ariane Wilson a senior at M-A.
Winners of the $5,000 scholarships are: Lauren Cheung of Menlo School, the Doris and Ormond Rector Scholarship; Alejandra Lemus of M-A, the Business and Professional Community Scholarship; Roark Marsh and Fady Wassef from M-A and Elizabeth Jackson and Jason Marwedel from Sacred Heart Prep, major scholarships.
Honor scholarships of $2,000 each were presented to Ambar Bhattacharyya and Lily Kang of Menlo School; Anamaria Nino-Murcia and Caroline Snyder of M-A; and Carl Spanoghe of Woodside Priory.
