Services Friday for M-A grad Andrew Daher.

Menlo Park police are investigating the death of 22-year-old Andrew Jacob Daher, a Los Altos resident who died Friday, June 18, in an apparent fall at Cornerstone Research at the corner of El Camino Real and Ravenswood Avenue in Menlo Park.

Mr. Daher, an analyst for Cornerstone and a Menlo-Atherton High School alumnus, apparently fell from the top floor of the three-story building at around 9 p.m. Friday, said James Franklin, director of administration for Cornerstone.

He was discovered by security guards and taken to Stanford University Hospital, where he later died of "multiple traumatic injuries," said a spokeswoman for the Santa Clara County Coroner's Office.

It is unclear how he fell, Mr. Franklin said.

Mr. Daher was valedictorian of his class at both Hillview Middle School and at Menlo-Atherton, where he graduated in 1994. He graduated from Stanford University Phi Beta Kappa in June 1998 with a major in economics.

While still at Menlo-Atherton, Mr. Daher spent a summer in Mexico with the Los Amigos de las Americas program, constructing plumbing facilities in a remote village. He also was a member of Ray's Shell Little League team, and participated in the baseball, basketball and wrestling programs in high school.

Mr. Daher spent his junior year of college at the London School of Economics. He was active in many Stanford organizations, including the Ujamaa Residential House.

A wake will be held Thursday, June 24, at the Roller-Hapgood Funeral Home, 980 Middlefield Road, in Palo Alto, from 6 to 8:30 p.m. A service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, June 25, at the Stanford Memorial Chapel at Stanford University.

He is survived by his mother, Dr. Judy Crates of Redwood City and stepfather Dr. Ronald Crates, who is the superintendent of the Redwood City Elementary School District; father Dr. Douglas Daher of Woodside; sister Carolyn Daher; stepsisters Gretchen and Ashley Crates; stepbrother Christopher Crates; and grandparents Mary and Arnold Johnson and Helen and Martin Daher.

Donations may be made to the Los Amigos de las Americas in memory of Andrew Daher, 5618 Star Lane, Houston, TX 77057.
