M-A students win art awards M-A students win art awards (May 31, 2000)

Twelve of the 43 art students from Menlo-Atherton High School who competed in the fourth annual "Creative Self-Expression" art show, sponsored by The Great Frame Up shop in Menlo Park, took home awards.

Students in the show include first-year art students as well as advanced artists. The show presents a wide range of individual interests and abilities in the fine arts, and represents an opportunity for students to participate in a juried event.

In addition to The Great Frame Up staff, judges included Anne M. Russel, a landscape artist and computer interface designer; Bill Cheney, artist, lecturer and former art director of Sunset Magazine; and Lynn Mauser-Bain, art instructor at Menlo School and past associate professor of art at San Jose State University.

The winners, who received cash prizes, are listed below in their respective categories.

Advanced artists

**Two-Dimensional Art: First place -- George McCracken; second place -- Shirley Ho.

**Three-Dimensional Art: First place -- Tyler Velten; second place -- Vanessa McCroskey.

Intermediate artists

**Two-Dimensional Art: First place -- Andy Slaton; second place -- Eleanor Lawson.

**Three-Dimensional Art: First place -- Omari Taylor; second place -- Jaquelyn Gonzalez.

Beginning artists

**Two-Dimensional Art: First place -- Ksenia Evdokimova; second place -- Emily Warde.

**Three-Dimensional Art: First place -- Joanna Gyuire; second place -- Sara Biegelsen.
