Sarah Delaney Rosendahl is new Junior League president
(August 02, 2000)
Sarah Delaney Rosendahl of Menlo Park is the 2000-2001 president of the Junior League of Palo Alto/Mid Peninsula.
Mrs. Rosendahl has been a Junior League member since 1988. She is also a member of the national board of directors of Christmas in April, and is one of the 12 founding members of Christmas in April Mid-Peninsula. She has served as a board member for Youth and Family Assistance of San Mateo County.
A native of Salinas, Mrs. Rosendahl is a graduate of the University of California at Davis. In her professional life, she spent 10 years in advertising and marketing in San Francisco. She moved to Menlo Park with her husband, Carl, in 1986. They have two sons, Eric, 11, and Kevin, 8, who attend St. Joseph's school in Atherton.
The new league president expects to spend at least 20 hours a week fulfilling the duties of her new position. "It's supposed to be a little quieter in the summer, but I haven't noticed," she says.
Junior League of Palo Alto/Mid Peninsula is a community service organization open to all women from San Mateo to Mountain View who are interested in volunteer work. Age requirements were eliminated three years ago. New members include a mother and daughter duo. The league, now celebrating its 35th year serving 14 Midpeninsula cities, has 1,100 members.
"The focus of our financial and volunteer support at Junior League is to develop the potential of families," says Mrs. Rosendahl. The organization has contributed more than $2.5 million and thousands of volunteer hours to such programs as The Tech Museum of Innovation, Daybreak Shelter, Christmas in April Mid-Peninsula, and the Mommy Van.
The league's three major fundraisers are The Shop, a resale store in Menlo Park; a holiday boutique; and a spring gala.
