Iberia restaurant moves to Menlo Park Iberia restaurant moves to Menlo Park (August 30, 2000)

After 16 years at Ladera Country Shopper in Portola Valley, the Iberia restaurant is moving to 1026 Alma St. in downtown Menlo Park, replacing the Garden Grill.

August 31 is Iberia's last day in Ladera. On September 1, the pub at the Alma Street location opens to serve beverages and tapas. After Labor Day, Iberia will be serving dinner, with lunch and tea service added later in the month.

Iberia is known for its Spanish cuisine. The owner is Jose Luis Relinque, who, with his wife, Jessica, also owned the Garden Grill. The Relinques will also open a gourmet take-out food shop, The Rock of Gibraltar, next to Iberia Restaurant, sometime in September.

No plans have been announced for the space occupied by Iberia at Country Shopper, according to property manager John Tarlton, who also expressed regret over Iberia's move. "We have all enjoyed having Iberia as part of the shopping center and wish them great success in their new location."
