**Irish Night

Enjoy a traditional St. Patrick's Day feast of corned beef and cabbage with all the trimmings, and a live and a silent auction, at 6 p.m. Saturday, March 17, at the Veteran's Memorial Senior Center, 1455 Madison Ave., Redwood City. The annual "Irish Night" raises funds for Kainos Home and Training Center, which provides training to developmentally disabled adults, and Peninsula Sunrise Rotary Club. Tickets are $20 in advance or $25 at the door. Call 363-2423.

**'Amadeus vs. The Pink Panther'

At 8 p.m., Saturday, March 17, the Foothill Orchestra will perform works by Mozart, Vaughan Williams, Bach, Stravinsky, and Copland. During the concert, music director Michael Gibson will give everyone a conducting lesson. Several children will be chosen to come onstage and conduct the orchestra in a performance of "The Pink Panther." The concert will be held in Smithwick Theater at Foothill College, 12345 El Monte Road, Los Altos Hills. Tickets are $10, and free for children 12 and under. Call the box office at 948-4444. Parking is $2/car.

**Voluntary Simplicity speaker

Cecile Andrews, author of "The Circle of Simplicity: Return to the Good Life," and director of the Simplicity Circles Project for Seeds of Simplicity at Cornell University, will lead a discussion on "the examined life richly lived" at 9 a.m. Sunday, March 18, at the Palo Alto Friends Meeting, 957 Colorado Ave., Palo Alto. The program is free and open to the public. Call 365-4080 for more information.

**Family Day at Art Center

Artists from Palo Alto Art Center's Cultural Kaleidoscope Artists-in-the-Schools Partners program have designed a Family Day with hands-on activities for families and children 5 and up. Activities are $1 each, and run from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday, March 18, at Palo Alto Art Center, 1313 Newell Road at Embarcadero, Palo Alto. Call 329-2366.
