Students arrested on drug possession
(March 14, 2001) Four Woodside High School students -- one a resident of Menlo Park -- were arrested March 6 in a parking lot of the Stanford Shopping Center for possession of marijuana with intent to sell, Palo Alto police reported.
Police found about 25 plastic bags of marijuana inside a cardboard cigarette box on the vehicle's front floor, said Sergeant John Costa.
The four students, all of whom are minors, were booked into the Santa Clara County juvenile hall and are awaiting formal charges. Three of the students are residents of East Palo Alto.
Police stopped the car for a minor violation around 12:30 p.m. A routine check of the car's license plate indicated that the vehicle was involved in a shooting incident in East Palo Alto, so the police treated the arrest as if the occupants were armed and dangerous.
East Palo Alto police didn't return phone calls.
