Preparing for offices on Sand Hill at Santa Cruz
Preparing for offices on Sand Hill at Santa Cruz
(March 14, 2001)
Workers recently put the final keystone blocks in a new retaining wall shoring up a steep bank at the corner of Santa Cruz Avenue and Sand Hill Road in unincorporated San Mateo County.
Property owner Dennis Chargin and San Mateo County's Department of Public Works are also widening the sidewalk around the corner at the busy intersection.
Mr. Chargin will be coming before the county Planning Commission Wednesday, March 14, with his application to convert the 1902 house built by Jane Stanford into offices for his construction company.
Mr. Chargin also wants to build another two-story, 1,406 square-foot office building.
The plan is to accommodate up to 14 employees in both buildings.
In addition, he plans another two-story building with a 557 square-foot apartment over a two-car garage that can be rented to a teacher in a local school.
The public hearing is set for 1:30 p.m. in the Supervisors Chambers of the Hall of Justice and Records, 400 County Center, near the corner of Bradford Street and Hamilton Avenue in Redwood City.
