Menlo Park's Lalita Tademy will read selections from her best-selling novel, "Cane River," at the 10th annual Authors' Luncheon on Saturday, November 3, at Hyatt Rickeys in Palo Alto.

The luncheon is sponsored by the Community Association for Rehabilitation and MidPeninsula Bank.

Five local authors will read from their works and be available for book signings in the book salon before and after lunch. The event begins at 10:30 a.m.

In addition to Ms. Tademy, guest authors are Paul Ehrlich, "Human Natures"; Oakley Hall, "Ambrose Bierce and the Death of Kings"; James Houston, "Snow Mountain Passage"; and children's author Ruth Heller, "Fantastic! Wow! And Unreal!"

Sue Monjauze and Mary Doten, both of Menlo Park, are co-chairmen of the event. Carol Friedman, founder of the Authors' Luncheon for C.A.R., is honorary chairman. San Jose Mercury columnist Loretta Green is master of ceremonies.

The Community Association for Rehabilitation, located in Palo Alto, is a nonprofit agency that helps people with developmental and other disabilities. Its programs serve not only clients, but their families and caregivers.

Tickets to the event are $75 per person with reservations required. For more information, call Iris Korol at 812-2827.
