Parents whose children will attend kindergarten in the Menlo Park City School District this fall are invited to orientations at Oak Knoll School and Laurel School in April and May.

Families can register their children for the upcoming school year at the appropriate school office.

District children who live on the west side of El Camino Real should register at Oak Knoll School, 1895 Oak Knoll Lane, Menlo Park. That school will host kindergarten orientation meetings on Monday, April 8, at 1 p.m. and Thursday, May 2, at 7 p.m. For information, call 854-4433.

Those in the district who live on the east side of El Camino should register at Laurel School, 95 Edge Road, Atherton. Laurel School will host kindergarten orientations Thursday, April 4, from 2 to 3 p.m. and Thursday, May 2, from 2 to 3 p.m. Call 324-0186 to reserve a space.

Children who will be 5 years old by December 2 are eligible for kindergarten. A birth certificate or other legal proof of age must be presented at registration. The children must be immunized against diphtheria, whooping cough, tetanus, polio, measles, mumps and rubella, and be tested for tuberculosis. Children must also be immunized for chicken pox or show a disease history at the time of registration. Also a proof of residence (a deed, lease agreement, rental agreement and PG&E bill) must be shown.

Parents are asked to register their children as soon as possible to help the district with class planning for the 2002-2003 school year. School office hours are 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. For more information, call the district office, 321-7140.
