Deborah Madison, the founding chef of San Francisco's Greens restaurant, will be at Left Bank restaurant in Menlo Park on Sunday, June 23, in the second of the "Authors a la Carte" series, a program sponsored by the restaurant and Kepler's Books.

Left Bank originated Authors a la Carte after a successful "Cooks With Books" program at their brasserie in Larkspur.

Ms. Madison will discuss her cooking concepts with the guests and sign copies of her latest book, "Local Flavors," in which she visits farmers' markets across the country and shares her recipes and menus for the ingredients she finds there.

She is the author of "Vegetarian Cooking for Everyone" and "The Savory Way," both of which were named the Julia Child cookbook of the year by the International Association of Culinary Professionals. She now lives in Santa Fe.

The evening with Ms. Madison begins at 6:30 p.m. The price is $125 per person, $215 per couple, and includes the dinner, wine, tax, tip and a signed copy of "Local Flavors." For reservations, call Kepler's Books at 594-5935.
