Sacred Heart stages 'Big' next week Sacred Heart stages 'Big' next week (October 16, 2002)

The Sacred Heart Drama Community will present the musical "Big," directed by John Loschmann, October 24 through November 2, in the Little Theatre at Sacred Heart Preparatory School, 150 Valparaiso Ave. in Atherton.

"Big" is based on the Tom Hanks movie about a boy whose wish to be a grown-up suddenly comes true, with amusing and affecting consequences. It was written by John Weidman, with music by David Shire and lyrics by Richard Maltby Jr.

The all-school production features students in fourth through 12th grades, including David McCavitt of Menlo Park as young Josh, Nick Padilla of Redwood City as Josh's best friend, Sean Kranz of Atherton as grown-up Josh, Danielle Di Paola of San Carlos as Josh's love interest, Stephen Carlson of San Mateo as Josh's boss, and Nicole Villeneuve of Los Altos Hills and Nic Rouleau of Los Altos as Josh's parents.

The October 24 opening gala will begin with food and refreshments at 6:30 p.m., followed by the 7:30 p.m. performance. Other performances are on October 25 and November 1 at 7:30 p.m., October 27 at 2 p.m., and November 2 at both times. Tickets for the gala are $16; $11 for students.
