Albert Stevens

Former Chevron vice president

A memorial service will be held Friday, December 5, at 12:30 p.m. at Christ Church in Portola Valley for Albert Edward Stevens. Mr. Stevens died November 20 at Sequoia Health Services. He was 92.

Mr. Stevens was born in San Francisco. He was a graduate of UC Berkeley and attended Stanford School of Business.

He served as a commander in naval intelligence during World War II. He worked for Chevron for 42 years, retiring as vice president of marketing, and was past president of Signal Oil Company.

Mr. Stevens was a member of the board of regents of St. Mary's College in Moraga, where he received an honorary doctor of philanthropic service degree. He served on the boards of Hannah Boys Center, the Boy Scouts of America, and the Bay Area Sports Hall of Fame. He was past president of the California Safety Foundation.

A member of Menlo Country Club, Mr. Stevens enjoyed golf, dominoes, travel and sports, his family said.

He is survived by his wife, Clara "Tudy" Stevens; daughters, Corinne Stevens of Eldorado Hills and Gail Cook of Alamo; and two grandsons.

The family prefers donations in memory of Al Stevens to St. Mary's College, P.O. Box 4300, Moraga, CA 94575-4300; or a charity of choice.
David Bowen

Lockheed engineer

David Evan Bowen of Menlo Park died November 30, two months after being diagnosed with stomach cancer. He was 68.

Mr. Bowen was born in Pueblo, Colorado, and served in the U.S. Army in Korea following the Korean war. He met his future wife, Penelope, when both were students at San Francisco State University. Ten years later, he finished his degree in mathematics at Notre Dame College.

Mr. Bowen was an engineer at Lockheed for 35 years, retiring in 1994. After retiring, he and his wife, both hikers, visited many of the national parks in the West.

Mr. Bowen also enjoyed working on his cabin in Arnold. He was very family-oriented and was especially delighted with his grandchildren, said his wife.

For the past 15 years, prior to his illness, the Bowens hosted Thanksgiving dinner for 40 to 50 members of the Bowen family.

Mr. Bowen is survived by his wife, Penelope; son Kenneth, who is relocating to Colorado Springs; a sister, Genevieve Kopache of Albany, New York; two brothers, Bob Bowen of San Diego and Jack Bowen of Orinda; and two grandchildren

Ann Huneke

Owner of Home and Garden store

Ann Carter Huneke of Menlo Park died November 29 of complications associated with the treatment of cancer. She was 65.

Ms. Huneke, who was the proprietor of the Home and Garden gift store, 887 Santa Cruz Ave., Menlo Park, was born in Los Angeles. She attended Stanford University and, after college, resided in Woodside and Menlo Park. She was a member of the Junior League of Palo Alto/Mid Peninsula and the Menlo Circus Club.

Ms. Huneke is survived by her children, Murray Huneke, Christine Huneke Kremer, and Lorraine Huneke; a brother, William Carter; and four grandchildren.

A private service will be held Sunday, December 7. The family prefers donations to the OKIZU Foundation, 16 Digital Drive, Suite 100, Novato, CA 94949. Arrangements were under the direction of Menlo Colonial Chapel.
