The Peninsula Women's Chorus will present its annual holiday concert, "Winter Patterns," at 8 p.m. Saturday, December 6, and 4 p.m. Sunday, December 7, at St. Patrick's Seminary, 320 Middlefield Road, Menlo Park. The concert will also be performed at 8 p.m. Saturday, December 13, at Mission Santa Clara, Santa Clara University.

The program will feature music in honor of the Virgin Mary, works by contemporary Baltic composers, and holiday music accompanied by organ and brass quartet. Martin Benvenuto is music director and Josephine Gandolfi of Menlo Park is the accompanist.

Concert highlights include: Magnificat Quarti Toni by Palestrina; Christmas Intrada by David Conte; Fior Scoloriti by Zoltan Kodaly; and a multi-lingual setting of "Silent Night."

Tickets are $20 general, $15 for seniors and students. They may be purchased at the door or through the Stanford ticket office, 725-ARTS. For more information, call 327-3095.
Model train show

Many models of American and European passenger and freight trains will be on display and running during the annual West Bay Model Railroad Christmas show December 12 through 14 in the former baggage/freight building at the Menlo Park train station.

There are three track scales (sizes of trains) on the same layout, which is unique among model railroad layouts, says club spokesman Lauren Mercer.

There will also be railroad artifacts, photos and other memorabilia on display.

Admission is free, but donations are appreciated. Raffle tickets for a new train set will be on sale at the door. The drawing will be held at the end of the show on Sunday, December 14.

Show hours are 7 to 10 p.m. Friday, December 12; noon to 6 p.m. Saturday, December 13; and noon to 5 p.m. Sunday, December 14.

Christmas program in Menlo Park

"Sing We Now of Christmas," the annual holiday program of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, will be presented at 7 p.m. Sunday, December 14, at the church, 1105 Valparaiso Ave., Menlo Park.

The family program will include a madrigal choir, handbells, sing-along carols, a youth choir and a German choir. The concert is free. For more information, call 856-9700.
Christmas creche exhibit

More than 500 creches from around the world will be on display from Saturday, December 6, through Wednesday, December 10, from noon to 9 p.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 3865 Middlefield Road, Palo Alto.

The creches, representing 65 countries, will include traditional European carvings, Native American ceramics, porcelains and crystals.

The Gunn High School Chamber Singers will give a concert at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, December 6; the Valparaiso Singers will perform at 7:30 p.m. Sunday, December 7; and Mormon Tabernacle Choir will be heard via satellite at 7:30 p.m. Monday, December 8.
