Herb Dengler prints benefit open space Herb Dengler prints benefit open space (December 10, 2003)

One of many legacies of Portola Valley naturalist and artist Herb Denger, who died in 2002, are his paintings of California native wildflowers that brightened the Peninsula long before European men began changing the landscape forever.

Twenty-four of the paintings, made at Stanford's Jasper Ridge Biological Preserve in the 1980s and 1990s, have been reproduced by a modern process called "giclee." They are for sale, as single prints or a full set, to benefit acquisition of open space in Portola Valley or Jasper Ridge.

Prints comes on acid-free paper, and with a certificate of authenticity.

Prints are $60 each, or $55 each for three or more. The complete set with portfolio is $1,200. "That's a bargain too," said Jean Lane of Portola Valley, a friend of Mr. Dengler and longtime docent at Jasper Ridge.

The 24 prints are available for viewing at Portola Valley Town Hall, 765 Portola Road, or at http://jasper1.stanford.edu.

For more information about the Dengler prints, call Town Hall at 851-1700, ext. 58; or Tor Lund at 851-1072.
