Howard Bulka will hold a just-before-Christmas cooking class at 10 a.m. Saturday, December 20, at his Marche restaurant, 898 Santa Cruz Ave. in Menlo Park. He promises to reveal his secret for making the best pecan pie. The class will also roast chestnuts to be served with brussels sprouts, and prepare seafood chowder and duckling with cornbread stuffing. The cost of $100 includes a luncheon of the prepared dishes paired with appropriate wines.

Marche will serve a traditional four-course menu on Christmas Eve, December 24, with some of Mr. Bulka's favorite dishes. The $60 dinner will be served with complimentary eggnog. There will be special menu items for children and vegetarians.

There will be two seatings for dinner on December 31, New Year's Eve. The first seating will be staggered between 6 and 7 p.m. The second seating will begin at 8:30 p.m. and last until midnight when the New Year will be toasted with champagne. The menu for the first seating is $95 per person, and $125 per person for the second seating.
