Slow Food Silicon Valley will celebrate its sixth anniversary with a seafood education dinner at Flea Street Cafe, Menlo Park, at 6 p.m. Sunday, January 18.

Speakers will discuss how to choose seafood to eat responsibly. The cost of $60 for members, $70 for non-members, will include appetizers, dinner, dessert and coffee. Cost for children under 14 is $35.

Guests are asked to bring a bottle of local wine to share (couples may bring one bottle). Payment must be received by January 9 in care of Slow Food Silicon Valley, Jean Rummelhoff, 991 Shadow Brook Drive, San Jose 95120.

Cooking classes at Iberia

Chef Jose Luis Relinque will show how to make a great paella in Paella 101, to be held at 11 a.m. Sunday, January 18, at Iberia restaurant. The chef says this is his most popular class and a must for anyone serious about learning Spanish cooking. Cost is $55.

Tapas and sangria will be the topic for a class at 11 a.m. Sunday, January 25, at Iberia. Recipes will feature all-time favorites, as well as some new additions, to the Red Terrier Public House tapas menu. Cost is $65.

Shrimp, chicken, saffron, nuts and chocolate? All are ingredients in a famous Catalan dish called pollastre amb gambes . The recipe is part of the Winter in Cataluna class that will take place at 11 a.m. Sunday, February 8, at Iberia. Cost is $75.
