Police search for bank robber Police search for bank robber (January 07, 2004)

Menlo Park police are searching for a man who robbed the Union Bank in downtown Menlo Park last week.

The suspect -- a white male in his late 20s or early 30s -- walked into the bank at 714 Santa Cruz Ave. at about 3:20 p.m. on Tuesday, December 30, and demanded money from a teller after saying he had a gun, said Sgt. Andrew Kline of the Menlo Park police.

The teller turned over an undisclosed amount of cash to the robber, who then walked out through the bank's rear doors toward Oak Grove Avenue, Sgt. Kline said. The robber did not display a weapon and no one was injured during the incident.

Police describe the suspect as 5 feet 9 inches tall with a large build, dark hair and a goatee. He was last seen wearing a blue shirt, dark jeans and a blue baseball cap. Police are asking anyone with information to call the Menlo Park Police Detective Unit at 330-6300.
