Sewer board members may hike their pay
Sewer board members may hike their pay
(January 21, 2004) The five members on the board of the West Bay Sanitary District are considering granting themselves a 12 percent raise -- or $13.32 per meeting.
The board, which usually meets twice a month, may raise compensation from $115.50 to $128.82 per meeting. The board governs the agency that handles sewage for some 55,000 people in areas of Menlo Park, Atherton, East Palo Alto, Woodside, Portola Valley, Redwood City, and adjacent unincorporated areas.
The board will hold a public hearing on raising the compensation rate at its meeting Monday, January 26, starting at 7 p.m. at the district office at 500 Laurel St. in Menlo Park. The hearing will be continued until February 9, said General Manager Tim Clayton.
Only after raising the allowed compensation rate, will the board vote on whether to actually increase their take-home pay by close to $300 per year. It's been two years since they've had a raise, Mr. Clayton noted.
