Sacred Heart Prep stages 'The Desk Set'
(January 21, 2004) Sacred Heart Prep's department revives "The Desk Set," an office comedy that became a Broadway hit in the 1950s and later a classic Katharine Hepburn-Spencer Tracy film.
Show times are 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday, January 23 and 24, with a matinee at 3:30 Friday in the school's Otto Library, 150 Valparaiso Ave. in Atherton.
Tickets are $8 for adults and $5 for students and faculty. For tickets and more information, call the school at 473-4077.
Set in a broadcasting company's reference department at the dawn of the computer age, "The Desk Set" pits the newfangled machines of an efficiency expert against the encyclopedic mind of a librarian.
John Loschmann directs the play, written by William Marchant.
Students in the cast are Julia Rose Brownlee, Marie-Clarisse Swinkels, David Phillips, Rochelle LeGrandsawyer, Scott Norton, Lauren Virnoche, Cameron Rule, Andrew Ninnemann and Justin Pirazadeh.
