Museum talk on Black History Month Museum talk on Black History Month (January 28, 2004)

To commemorate Black History Month, the San Mateo County History Museum will have a presentation on Saturday, February 7, about the 77-year history of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP). Marie Davis, president of the San Mateo branch of the NAACP, will speak.

Founded in 1926, the San Mateo branch grants several scholarships each year and works to prevent racial profiling and to make sure that people accused of crimes have sufficient legal counsel, event organizers said.

The program is free with the price of museum admission ($4 for adults, $2 for children and seniors) and begins at 2 p.m. The museum is located in the historic courthouse at 777 Hamilton St. in Redwood City. For more information, call 299-0104.
