This information is from the Atherton and Menlo Park police departments and the San Mateo County Sheriff's Office. Under the law, people charged with offenses are considered innocent until convicted.
Atherton

Petty theft: Garden hose stolen, Lloyden Drive, January 23. CD player and stereo stolen from vehicle, Menlo-Atherton High School parking lot, January 28. Cell phone stolen from student backpack, Menlo-Atherton High School, January 28.

Attempted burglary: A resident of Maple Avenue reported discovering a broken rear window upon returning home on January 25.
Menlo Park

Spousal abuse:

** Reported in the 200 block of Hedge Road at 10:15 p.m. January 23.

** Larry T. Cobbs, 39, of Menlo Park was arrested in the 600 block of Hamilton Avenue on January 25 and booked into county jail.

Vehicle collision: A person complaining of neck pain was taken to the hospital after an accident in the 300 block of Middlefield Road on January 27.

Burglaries:

** Jewelry was stolen from a residence in the 1100 block of Windermere Avenue on January 24.

** Someone smashed a window, kicked in a door and pried open a cabinet, but nothing appeared to be stolen from a residence in the 3500 block of Haven Avenue on January 26.

** Coins and jewelry were stolen from a residence in the 1200 block of University Drive January 26. Police are investigating.

Grand theft: Hackers made phone calls by tapping into the telephone lines at a telephone company office in the 1100 block of Marsh Road on January 29.

Stolen vehicle: Vehicle stolen, 2900 block Sand Hill Road, January 23.

Petty theft: License plate stolen, 3000 block Haven Avenue, January 23. Cell phone stolen, 800 block Hamilton Avenue, January 26. License plate stolen, 600 block Sharon Park Drive, January 29.

Auto burglary: Stereo, CDs and jacket stolen, 2200 block Sharon Road, January 23. CDs and miscellaneous property stolen, 1100 block Henderson Avenue, January 26. Stereo and seat cover stolen, first block Iris Lane, January 28.

Vandalism: A sign and a window were damaged at East Palo Alto High School on Pope Street on January 29.
Woodside

Grand theft and larceny: Miscellaneous items stolen from a locker, Woodside High School, January 21.

Burglary: Miscellaneous items stolen via unlocked back door, 300 block Hillside Drive, January 26.

Forgery: Someone has been cashing checks stolen from a mailbox in the 300 block of Grandview Drive.

Vehicle collision: A southbound vehicle on Highway 84 near Fox Hill Road crossed a double yellow line and struck the side rear of a northbound vehicle on January 17. A passenger in the southbound vehicle was taken to the hospital.
Portola Valley

Auto burglary: Miscellaneous items stolen, 500 block Portola Road, January 23.

Vandalism: Board fence spray-painted with graffiti, 300 block Hillside Drive, January 26.
