Simitian, Lempert in cable TV forum

A candidate forum between Joe Simitian and Ted Lempert, the Democratic contenders for the District 11 state Senate nomination in the March 2 primary, will be aired at 6 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday, February 4 and 5, at 6 p.m. on local cable Channel 27. The Media Center forum will be moderated by Mike Cobb.
Ted Lempert opens Menlo headquarters

State Senate District 11 candidate Ted Lempert is opening a campaign headquarters office in Menlo Park and will host a grand opening on Wednesday, February 4.

Mr. Lempert is scheduled to speak about the issues in his campaign and how to get involved, a staff member said. The event, which is not intended to be a fundraiser, will go from 5 to 6:30 p.m. in the office at 115 Constitution Drive, Suite 7.
Deadlines for registration, absentee ballots

Applications for absentee ballots for the March 2 primary election will be accepted through 5 p.m. Tuesday, February 24, said Warren Slocum, chief elections officer for San Mateo County. Voter registration for the primary closes February 17.

Absentee ballot applications are available online at www.shapethefuture.org; by calling the elections office at 312-5222; or on the back cover of the sample ballot pamphlet mailed to all registered voters.

A written request for an absentee ballot may be sent to the elections office, 40 Tower Road, San Mateo, CA 94402. It must include the voter's full name; address of residence; mailing address if different from the residence; name and date of the election the ballot is for; and the voter's signature. The request may also be faxed to 312-5348.
